The NIFTY Midcap 100 surged as much as 71.75 points, or 0.12%, to 57,701.50 on Monday. However, NSE’s small-cap gauge closed at 17,911.55, down 7.95 points or 0.04%. The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, rebounded on Monday, August 25, following buying in IT stocks and a rally in the global equity markets, on hopes of a potential US Federal Reserve rate cut. The 30-share SENSEX climbed 329.06 points or 0.40% to settle at 81,635.91. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE Nifty went up by 97.65 points or 0.39% to 24,967.75. NIFTY50 top gainers and losers The 50-share NIFTY index was bolstered by buying in Infosys, which closed 3.08% higher at ₹1,533.30 apiece. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (2.88%), HCL Technologies (2.64%), Wipro (2.32%), and Hindalco Industries (1.79%), which were among the top gainers of the day. On the other hand, the top losers pack was led by Adani Enterprises, which declined 0.95%. Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (-0.93%), Nestle India (-0.87%), Bharat Electronics (-0.68%), and SBI Life Insurance Company (0.50%) trailed behind Adani Enterprises. On the contrary, shares of L\&T Finance slipped 2.20%. The top laggards included Mankind Pharma (-2.14%), BSE Ltd (-1.79%), Suzlon Energy (-1.69%), and NTPC Green Energy (-1.66%). NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers The NIFTY Smallcap 100 settled at 17,911.55, down 7.95 points or 0.04% on August 25. It was pulled down by selling in Reliance Power (-5.01%), Angel One (-2.90%), Neuland Laboratories (-2.79%), HBL Engineering (-2.38%), and Tejas Networks (-2.28%). On the flipside, Action Construction Equipment (8.38%), Newgen Software Technologies (5.49%), PG Electroplast (3.18%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (2.92%), and Godfrey Phillips India (2.55%) were among the top gainers.
